Welcome to my website!

In these pages you will find details of all my books, and plenty more besides.

BOOKSHELF will give you, I hope, as much or as little information as you require about each book, from the basics (publisher etc) that will enable you to order a copy if you know exactly what you want, through to ideas and images from inside each book to show you what itís about and how it can help you transform your home. To get up to date, catch my LATEST BOOKS.

If you want some practical decorating tips, dip into IDEAS. But if you fancy a touch of fantasy, about how your home could beÖ turn to NEWS AND VIEWS. If youíd like to know where Iím coming from, click  BIOGRAPHY, and if youíd like to let me know what you think, donít hesitate to give me some FEEDBACK.

All my books reflect in some way my philosophy of decorating. I believe that the way our homes look matters. Interior decoration isnít to be dismissed as superficial frippery. Our surroundings reflect and effect the way we feel about life and about ourselves. Colour (that most basic element) really does alter our mood, uplifting or soothing us.

On the other hand, there is plenty of hype around about decorating Ďmagicí and the instant transformation bestowed by the Ďmakeoverí. While Iím all in favour of a weekend blitz (and it is amazing what you can achieve in a short burst of concentrated activity, especially if youíve done some research first) Iím dead against surface tinkering. I never was a fan of those paint effects like ragging and stippling. Instead, I believe that nothing beats integrity Ė honest materials fitted for their purposes, flat colour on a flat wall, solid wood furniture, unfussy forms. I like the direction that decorating is taking at the beginning of the twenty first century, sleek and pared down. I like its spirit.

My ideas may change, of course, but meantime, Iím a fan of simplicity, practicality and real colour, with plenty of luxurious touches around the place. I want to enjoy coming home to my home, to feel embraced and liberated by it, and I want you to have the same pleasure. I hope that my books will help you achieve that, and much moreÖ

 Thanks for visiting. Enjoy!
